Welcome

The winter resorts and businesses on this web site have long traditions as winter holiday destinations. Many of them have been run by the same family for a number of generations. The same guests return year after year. Most of them are in the skiing country itself, and have designated tracks going straight from their accommodation. Some have extensive networks of ski tracks that are prepared by machines or snow-scooters every day, but it is also possible to ski in large areas of untouched nature. The track networks at each location are shown on special local maps. Most people choose to spend their winter holiday at one destination, and choose their trips according to the weather and the shape they are in. Some places offer local guided skiing trips to specific destinations. Other more experienced skiers choose the Troll Track, consisting of day trips from one location to another. In addition, the resorts offer many other activities besides cross country skiing. Some arrange idyllic tours by horse drawn sledges with harness bells and torches, where a rest for a hot drink beside a log fire in a Sami tent adds a little extra spice to the experience. Others offer trips by sledges drawn by large dog teams – 10-12 huskies travelling at high speed across the mountain plateau. Most places provide ski hire, skiing lessons, and a small ski lift with a few runs for downhill skiing. This is ideal for families with children, as you don’t risk losing your children amongst a myriad of slopes, as can happen in larger resorts. A number of places offer special children’s activities and good family discounts. After skiing, you can sometimes enjoy a sauna or a swim, or unwind in front of an open fire or on the dance floor after dinner. Everywhere you will encounter a distinctive, friendly environment providing individual service. Food plays an important part in a successful holiday, and our fully cartered resorts offer an extensive Norwegian breakfast, as well as good menus including Norwegian specialities.
